A powerful Pinot Noir from Elk Cove’s most prized vineyard, Roosevelt, its steep south-facing hillsides offer ample ripening, evident in this wine. The aromatics are fruit-driven, ripe red and black berry fruits accented by barrel spice and crushed violets. The palate is ripe and does show a touch of heat. There are ripe fruit flavours of black plum, cherry compote and dried fig. Hints of pencil lead, cinnamon, and cola notes deliver the well-structured wine to its finish.

“This Pinot Noir is comprised of fruit from the Elk Cove Goodrich Vineyard property, planted in 2007 and really starting to come into its own. Aromas offer ripe blue fruits, black tea, and eucalyptus, getting at both depth and classic Yamhill-Carlton character. The palate brings a complimentary depth to the wine. It is at moments ripe and round, yet offering earthy minerality that is backed up by black cherry and sweet plum.”

“..this wine was made by Adam Campbell at Elk Cove, one of my favorite winemakers in the Valley, and, well, whoa. Rich. Tree fruit. Pear. Peach. Apricot. Salinity. Mineral. Yowza. A whole lot going on even before the first sip. Happily, the palate does not disappoint. A wave of fruit is quickly followed by a near-bracing acidity, resulting in a beautifully balanced wine. It seems as though Adam has found the formula to incorporate the best aspects of both styles of Pinot Gris/Grigio, and that is a beautiful thing. Whoa. This has to be near the top of my favorite domestic Pinot Gris.”
